Got my first houseplant

I got my first plant today, mostly cause my room is kinda boring and it needs some green. I've been doing a little bit of research for maybe a week or two on which plant to get and how to take care of it. I got a Hoya plant, im not sure which type yet. However, I really should've waited before I got it.

The first red flag
When I came in the store, it was a plant 'boutique', which i'm sure is fine, probably just marked up. When I asked for the hoya plants though, they went in the back, and said they recently just got it in. Now im sure this is probably fine for an experienced plant parent, but I just opted in to get a plant that just travelled a while and been in all sorts of places

My second mistake
I didn't check for bugs in store, I was captivated by finding the perfect plant, and didn't check for bugs or anything. Since I made such poor choices, my new plant is infested with Mealybugs. Now supposedly they aren't the worst pests to deal with, but since they lay eggs in waves, it just takes far longer to be sure they're gone than other pests. The real issue is i don't have a good place to put it. i was planning to put it in my room, but im not so sure i want mealybugs in my room, and my bathroom has other plants (monsteria and pothos, they're my brothers). i have another bathroom that its in right now but i don't think it has a good amount of sun. Also, they can live in roots and i'm sure the plant is already stressed out enough that i shouldn't repot it for a few weeks.

the good news
fortunately i don't think any of these problems are super urgent and im probably just overreacting. Also my brother is familiar with houseplants so if i fuck up really badly he can probably save it.
