Seeing obvious tourists around is always so interesting. I'll see them walking around or on public transport. They stand out because everything fascinates them.
You'll rarely ever see a local pull out their phone to take photos of buildings they pass by often. You won't hear locals point out structures. They stand out, even if they don't want to. As mean as that might sound, I enjoy being able to spot tourists. Not for any bigoted reasons or anything. I just enjoy people-watching.
Often, I wonder what goes through their minds. What do they think of this place? Why did they decide to come here? Has it lived up to their expectations? When they turn as a group to take photos of passing scenery, will they look back on the moments they capture?
Tourists are a nice reminder of the things I take for granted. I believe I am someone who values the mundane more than others. Even so, I think it's natural to get bored of the same places. Seeing people react to landscapes and landmarks like they're the Eiffel Tower puts things into perspective. I used to think the same things of this place. Time just pulled me into boredom. I need to step back and see the world for what it is. It's wonderful.
I hope they don't react poorly to me watching them. I've been trying to pull back on my people-watching habits. I must look like such a creep. God forbid I look judgemental. That would be awful!
A part of me hopes they'll ask for help. At heart, I am a yapper. If someone wants my opinion on cool locations, I want to try to help, even if I know nothing. It's just nice to connect with people. I value those brief moments of crossing paths for the only ever time. I hope I'm remembered for those moments as I remember other people.
Speaking of yapping, I don't know how to end these. I'm trying to make my blogs on here longer. Tumblr is where I like to say random things without much thought. Hopefully, making longer posts will help strengthen my writing skills, introspection, and general ability to think before I post. I'll end up cringing at these either way, but at least it'll be useful.
Well, I suppose I'll leave this here. Let me know if you also enjoy people-watching or anything else mentioned here. I'd like to know if people can relate.
See ya!
Dolly
