On replacing my smartphone with a 3DS

So, last week the phone I've had since 2022 kicked the bucket and I, very quickly, had to scramble to find something to replace it for the time being. I ended up settling on my New 3DS XL, as it does all the functions I use my smartphone for; music, games, internet browser, just without texting and calling (not like anyone texts or calls me but still).

So here's everything I did to my New 3DS XL to make it my temp phone.
Homebrew, literally none of this would be possible without Homebrew. Homebrewing your 3DS allows you to do far more than what you can with a regular unmodded 3DS, in this case, downloading custom programs. read this if you want more info on modding
A pretty damn big SD card lol, I pulled a 64 gb one out of an old drone.

For the actual programs:
Universal-Updater, it has a huge collection of Homebrew applications that are super easy to install, this is what most of the programs I've installed are available on.
FBI, a file manager for 3DS, it's main use is installing .cia files.
hshop, lets you download basically any game released for the 3DS. (including kiosk and developer versions!!!!)
Anemone, lets you customize the theme of your 3DS's homepage you can get tons of cool themes here or make your own with a theme editor, I use Usagi.
Twilight Menu, lets you run just about any game from any older Nintendo console (plus some sega) on your 3DS. I get my roms from here they have games for other legacy consoles too (INCLUDING THE AQUARION PS2 GAME THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT BUT ME)
NDSforwarder, for putting NDS games onto your homepage.
Pomegranate, there's tons of MP3 players for 3DS, this is just my favourite.
3DSlibris, an ebook reader, I use it for Predator comics cus I'm a DORK.
Fourthtube, Youtube for 3DS.
Clownsec, again, there are other 3D movie players for 3DS this is just the one I use. I only have Alien VS Predator.
SNES9X, an SNES emulator, I have it entirely for Alien VS Predator
mGBA, a GBA emulator (because I didn't wanna figure out super ultimate injector lol) I have it entirely for Alien vs Predator - The Last of His Clan..... you know I'm noticing a pattern here....

For the last week I've been running around with this beast in my pocket, just sorta, using it like I would my phone. Honestly it's been really fun. For the age of my 3DS (got it nearly 10 years ago, and regularly used for all those 10 years) the battery life is super good. I know everybody and their mother on these types of platforms gabs about "oh social media detox, death to all algorithms" but it really has been nice having this variety on a single device without any pings and notifications that come with the convenience of a phone. I think more people should forgo their phones and return to the true joy of a stationary pc and a handheld console, we were never supposed to have this sort of power in our hands.
I love my 3DS and my 3DS loves me, one day I'll pass another 3DS freak in the wild and it'll be like... I dunno what it'll be like, but it'll be cool!!!!
