Born on August 2nd at 6:45 A.M. in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Zelune Cruz spent her early childhood surrounded by a close-knit family before immigrating to the United States at the age of eight. Adjusting to a new country wasn't easy, but she found comfort in art, filling sketchbooks with illustrations and developing a passion for visual storytelling. During middle school, she also discovered kickboxing, training consistently until a knee injury during her sophomore year of high school forced her to retire from the sport. The injury left her with chronic pain that occasionally requires the use of a cane after long periods of walking, but it never diminished her determination.

At twenty years old, Zelune graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication Design, earning recognition for her work in animation, motion graphics, and digital design. Only a year later, she received a confidential invitation from Katahara Metsudo, Chairman of the Kengan Association, offering her a position in Japan to oversee the graphics, animations, transitions, and visual presentation for a tournament years in the making: the Kengan Annihilation Tournament. Intrigued by the opportunity and eager for a new chapter in her life, she accepted and relocated to Japan.

Although accommodations had already been arranged by Metsudo's staff, fate intervened on her very first night in the country. While exploring a local arcade, she lost track of time until it was well past dark. Concerned that a young woman unfamiliar with Japan might become an easy target, Kazuo Yamashita approached her and offered her a place to stay until she could settle in. After calling one of Metsudo's staff to explain that she had found somewhere safe to stay—never realizing the calm voice on the other end belonged to The Fang of Metsudo himself—she accepted Kazuo's offer. What was meant to be temporary gradually became permanent, and over the years, Kazuo became less like a landlord and more like the father she never expected to find in Japan.

Because the Kengan Annihilation Tournament required years of preparation, Zelune spent the next five years working behind the scenes within the Kengan Association. She designed the animated fighter introductions, arena graphics, promotional material, transitions, and much of the visual identity that audiences would eventually associate with the tournament. During this time, she also formed a close friendship with Sayaka Katahara, the Chairman's daughter, their professional relationship eventually becoming one of genuine sisterhood. Through long nights at the office and quiet evenings shared with Kazuo, Japan slowly began to feel like home.

Everything changed when Kazuo returned home one evening looking unusually pale. He revealed that he had been chosen by Nogi Hideki to become the president of the newly established Yamashita Trading Co., making him an official representative in the upcoming Kengan Annihilation Tournament. Overwhelmed and terrified by the responsibility suddenly placed on his shoulders, Kazuo confided everything to Zelune. Wanting to support him—and at Metsudo's request to witness the tournament she had spent years helping create—she accompanied him to Ganryu Island.

It was there that she met Tokita Ohma.

At first, Ohma barely acknowledged the countless hours of work Zelune had poured into the tournament's presentation. The elaborate introductions, dramatic lighting, and crowd reactions meant little to him compared to fighting itself. Despite his blunt personality, however, the two gradually formed an easy friendship throughout the events of Kengan Ashura. Zelune became one of the few people who never expected anything from Ohma beyond simply being himself, while Ohma quietly grew accustomed to her calm presence. Neither of them ever confessed the feelings that slowly developed between them, and by the end of the tournament, all they had were unspoken possibilities.

Shortly before his final match, Ohma told Zelune to wait for him until he returned after winning the tournament. She agreed, believing there would always be time to say everything left unsaid.

There wasn't.

Following Ohma's death at the conclusion of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, Zelune was left mourning not only the man she had grown to love but also the future they never had the chance to begin. For two years, she threw herself into her work within the Kengan Association, trying to move forward while carrying unresolved grief. During that time, she briefly dated Gaolang Wongsawat, whose quiet understanding and emotional maturity helped her begin healing. Their relationship lasted about a year before Zelune ended it, realizing that although she cared deeply for him, she was still holding onto grief she had never been able to let go of. The two parted on good terms and remained close friends, with Gaolang continuing to support her without resentment.

Then, during the events of Kengan Omega, the impossible happened.

Tokita Ohma returned.

Seeing him alive after believing she had lost him forever shattered every wall Zelune had built around herself. This time, however, neither of them rushed into romance. Having matured over the years, they slowly rebuilt their friendship, learning who the other had become after everything they had endured. Ohma, no longer driven solely by the desire to fight, began discovering what it meant to truly live, while Zelune allowed herself to hope again after years of believing that chapter of her life had ended forever.

Their relationship grew naturally through ordinary moments—shared meals, late-night conversations, bookstore visits, and quiet walks through Tokyo—until friendship quietly became love. No dramatic confessions or grand declarations were needed. They simply chose each other, one day at a time, proving that sometimes the strongest bonds aren't forged in battle, but in the peaceful life waiting afterward.
