Buring a Disc?

So you want to burn a CD, but you have no idea how to? Well, read this. Hopefully I will be able to make a guide to help those who wish to do this task.

⁣Getting started
For a CD, you need what is known as an MP3 file of the audio. An MP3 is an audio coding format; it's a file format. You can get MP3s in a lot of ways; pirating them is the easiest. Use an MP3 converter if you are taking from a YouTube video or a Spotify downloader. MP3Cow is good for YouTube videos, but you do have to buy this software after a daily limit of ten songs. Spotify Down is a good software for downloading Spotify songs. (p.s. I have never used Apple Music, so I have no idea what website is good for that.)

Another major part of this is the physical disc itself; you can get these online and in person. Walmart and other major stores usually have them. Maxell is a good brand to buy from; they are known for discs. Be warned that discs have a limited size on them; this can range, but 80 minutes or 700 MB are common. Get CD-R discs; some older CD players will not play CD-RW discs, and CD-RW discs are mainly for computers, not CD players.

YOU WILL NEED A DISC DRIVE! Nothing will work if you do not own a disc drive. You can buy these as a plug-in for most modern laptops on the market. You can also find these secondhand or for cheap on the internet.

MP3
When you download the songs for the CD, they will come in two ways. Individually, songs most often do not come in a ZIP file. But albums most times do; you will need to extract the files from this ZIP. Use WinRAR or 7zip to unzip your files.

Try to keep your songs together in a folder; this just helps so you are not looking all over. If you downloaded an MP3 correctly, it will be able to be opened and will play the music on your laptop.

SOFTWARE
There are a lot of different software programs out there for this task. In this blog, only two matter: iTunes and Windows Media Player Legacy (WMPL). iTunes is very annoying to work with if the computer isn't a Mac, so be warned. For both software, the first step is to drag your files in. Highlight them, then drag them into your software of choice.

Go to the album view when you drag your files in. Next, make a playlist full of the songs that you want burned (CTRL+N is the shortcut to make a playlist). You can drag or manually to add songs to this playlist; name it whatever you wish.

Insert a blank CD-R into your disc player; most times the computer will tell you if something is on the disc. Make sure the playlist is open during this next step.

You are going to hit the file menu, and then you are going to hit burn to disc. A window will open up after you do. It will show some choices; mess around with what you like. Then hit the burn button. This will take some time, so be patient; if a playlist is too long, it will ask for a second CD.

⁣Windows Media Player

Before you open WMPL, make sure your disc drive is connected, and make sure a blank disc is in the disc player. When you open Windows Media Player, you will see a burn tab on the top right; click on that.

Once this is opened, you will see a burn list; drag your files into this area. Then you are going to hit the burn button; hopefully, it will start to burn. Once more you are going to wait.

Once the discs are burned, get a CD player. Relax and listen to your tunes.
