Public Transport

I've always had a love-hate relationship with public transport in my city.

First of all, it’s sparse, chaotic, and stifling during rush hour, and the fare isn’t worth it because it’s odd and a bit expensive, in my opinion. It’s a bit unsafe, especially as a woman, and you’ll never manage to get there on time.

But I find it relaxing, it’s like creating a little bubble where it’s just me and everything around me disappears. Public transport in my city is a big part of our city’s identity, and when you ride it at certain times, the trip becomes relaxing. I always see new things, rappers, weird people insulting strangers, people living their lives, and so much more. I spend a lot of time there, especially when I’m getting around. It’s also where I do most of my reading, because sometimes the trips feel long, and I know that if I fall asleep, I’ll miss my stop.

Now they’re going to build a subway in my city; it won’t work for me because it doesn’t go where I need it to, but I think it’s going to be a hit when it’s finished. It’s run by the same company that manages public transport, but I’m interested in how people will behave, that’s what has shaped public transport the most. I imagine there’ll be an exorbitant number of street vendors, and I wonder how they’ll manage to sneak on without paying.

In conclusion, I love public transport culture, but I hate public transport. ¯\_(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯

Thoughts on your public transit system???

This is totally random, but I've always wanted to write something about this topic (゚ヮ゚)
