River Hiking and Unexpected Experience at a Restaurant

Today my friends and I went hiking along a river. They made this plan to say goodbye to me, since I'm moving cities.

We agreed to rendezvous at the bus station but it seems like their sense of time is terrible, for one of them arrived one hour earlier and the others arrived at the last minute (mind you, we had to wait like 40 minutes for the bus to arrive so it wasn't that big of a deal but still).

Once we arrived at our destination, we quickly walked into nature and found the river. Our goal was to reach a waterfall that was up ahead. Our first obstacle was the river itself. My friends' collective neuron decided to cross the river and get to the waterfall by walking on the river itself. Luckily they quickly realized that it would be foolish and impossible, since we had to go up, not down. The trip itself was supposed to be around 40 minutes; however, we got lost halfway through and lost a lot of time. At least three hours had passed when we finally reached the falls. The water was really really cold, but we had a good time. I was kinda sleepy though so I took a nap while my friends were jumping into the river. After a while we decided to go back to the city.

It was time for dinner, so we went to a Japanese restaurant to eat sushi. The table next to us was a family of Japanese people (i think?). They were celebrating one of the girls' birthday and they started singing happy birthday. When they started clapping, we joined in. They noticed this and then they decided to sing it again but in Spanish, and encouraged us to sing along hahaha. It was really unexpected. And what's more: when they started cutting the cake, they gave a few slices to us too! It was a really delicious cake with real pieces of mango inside.

All in all, I had a great time. I'm really grateful to have such great friends, so I'm saddened that I'll have to let go of them.
