Hello from the Sky

It's a little over 1 AM right now and Ichiko Aoba is softly whispering in my ear. I'm quite sleepy and it's a little colder now than it was earlier today. With the mood I set for myself by reading Veil and listening to softer melodies, I find myself getting closer to simply shutting down my PC and nodding off, but I wouldn't let myself do that.

I was reading Veil and the particular scenes that stood out to me were Scene 74 and Scene 69. Every scene of Veil's is so spectacularly pretty (for those unsure of what Veil is, it's a popular manga with its main characters being that pretty blonde woman who's eyes are always closed and the red haired man who accompanies her), but these scenes reminded me of just how much colour theory I have yet to learn, and just how much I love various times of day.

That's what this blog post is about after all: Sunlight and moonrays filtering through too-thin curtains of varying patterns !! o(* ̄︶ ̄*)o

Morning.

I love the winter terms of my school because they bump up starting time to 7:30 AM. It's darker for longer and the sun takes it's time rising in its careless fashion above the horizon. The longer it takes in the morning means more car sleep for me. It's a wonderful win for me.

I never get to see the sunrise from my room window, since it faces the west. I don't mind it much, or at least I wouldn't if my curtains weren't so thin and incapable of blocking out that morning blue haze that lingers after the sun has risen. It always fails to be my favourite part of morning however, just like the period before the sunrise actually occurs. Am I picky? Maybe, but I much prefer the sun being fully out than still groggy from slumber.

Regardless, I like mornings. I've been sleeping earlier (Not today.... but recently) and it's quite lovely to wake up when the sun hasn't already crossed the midday mark. If you haven't been doing so, start going to bed around or before 11 PM. I'm sure you'll feel a little nicer.

Afternoon.

Afternoon air past 3PM always feels the laziest for me, especially on Sundays. Afternoons always carry this "time to lounge and rest" vibe to them, especially after the rush of morning like cooking breakfast or cleaning. In terms of sun, where I live it's quite intense and leaves little shade to rest in. That is of course, when it is 3 o'clock.

My favourite kind of afternoons are the one here clouds gather in the skyline and only leave little patches of sunshine. It's sweet and soft and warrants me to play Arabesque by Lily Chou Chou. It also makes me feel especially drowsy. These afternoons feel best when there are light, long lasting shoers of rain and its cold enough that leaving a blanket feels unbearable.

Additionally, one of the little things I do is checking how much daytime I have left before sunset. Never underestimate just how fast the sun travels across the sky, haha...

Sunsets.

The gentle red-orange glow of sunset never ceases to induce awe inside of me. It always scatters across my room and leaves every sun-kissed surface glimmering. That glimmer never lasts long however, and I always manage to hurt my eyes a little because I keep wanting to look outside and admire the sun a little.

There are times when it just can't decide how bright it wants to be. I'm unsure if it is because of some kind of smoke haze in the distance or just clouds that I cannot see, but sometimes the sun reduces to this glowing red mass that slowly settles below the horizon, ready to slumber again. I'm grateful for those moments, because at least then I can stare comfortably without there being white spots in my vision. As for those other times, the sun rests with the exact same intensity it started with, all the way down to when only an eighth of its surface can be seen. It's annoying but still admirable in some way.

Although I have given sunset its own segment, my particular favourite period is the time before the sun actually changes from blinding white to a fierce red. The light still cascades into my room and upon my skin, but it's softer. More like the warmth of freshly ironed uniform. That's my favourite kind of intensity for anything.

Night.

The moon makes its appearance in this blog post too. It's known most especially for catfishing those who don't know that it doesn't shine. It also has a famous rumour of being made out of cheese. What kind? Maybe feta...

I love looking up and watching the chorus of the stars and the moon in its various phases together. It's pretty in some inexplicable way and makes me wish I could watch them sing with someone warm at my side murmuring the day's stories. Despite that, I love especially the moon's phases. It's nice to see it change every one or two days. I wonder if anyone else looks up at it when I do too.

Night past midnight gets especially quiet. Suprisingly, birds don't sing at night (Is it really quite a shock to everyone else?). Even if they don't, the one noise that does prevail is the restless barking of dogs in the street and the buzz of the refrigerator from the kitchen. The quiet is something I think everyone should feel at least once in their life. It's oddly soothing.

---------------------------------------

Those were my ramblings about my favourite times of day. I thank Kotteri's writing for making me so poetic today. Ichiko Aoba is still playing in the background (she helped quite a lot), but I will have to turn it of now since I'm beat and wwould love to rest my head on a pillow right now. It's now 2:40 AM, and I wish everyone, reading or not, a pleasant rest of their night or day!!! (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
