Minecraft made me better at art kind of

I've been thinking about how my build style in minecraft and my art style have fluctuated and developed over time - like, I feel like minecraft has made me a better artist, and my building and art styles reflect that.

They both go through something I call metamorphosis, where, mostly my artstyle, will actually start showing progress and growth in my skill when I draw. I get in about a 2-week to a month long rut where I have art block, and then afterwards I get my confidence back and notice a large improvement in my art compared to before the rut. I think it is because of my attempts to get out of the rut, and perhaps at the same time my willingness to let it run its course. I usually doodle or practice my art a lot during the rut, instead of making full pieces. So, when the rut is over, that practice comes to fruition when I start making full pieces again. Its quite fun to know how your art process works!

Along with this, I've noticed that my building and art progression/process is very slow. I notice myself afk-ing in front of a minecraft build more than I'm actually building it - as if I were recharging my energy to keep building. I think this helps a lot with allowing myself to put more thought and detail in my build, which is why my most recent builds have been coming out quite well!! im very proud of them. This also happens with my art.

I think minecraft allows you as an artist to notice those little details in your process, and lets you learn to take your time and add little details over time. You don't have to know exactly what you're going to build or how to do it before you log in. you just have to take it step by step! and understanding that has made me a better - or more thoughtful - artist. minecraft has definitely allowed me to appreciate and apply a more impressionist style and slow process to my art, and definitely made me stop overthinking it as much. I have noticed myself drawing more freely, instead of trying to confine myself to one artstyle.
