The Rabbit & The Hare (analogy written by a bored sober teenager)

I have always preferred the hare.

I don't know why. Perhaps it is because they seem slightly misplaced. Too much leg, too much ear, too much thought behind their eyes. They have none of the easy sweetness of a rabbit. A rabbit is cute before you have even had the chance to decide whether you like it.

A hare has to be looked at.

My mother doesn't like them. She says they think too fast and that they look strange. I suppose they do. They seem permanently startled by something, as if the world has just occurred to them all at once.

Still, there is something beautiful about them.

Not the kind of beauty that makes you want to pick something up and keep it. Something more inconvenient than that. A beauty that takes a second glance.

I suppose I understand that.

I have never been particularly good at being a rabbit.

So I've always been a sympathizer of hares.
