People need to stop trying to limit themselves to just one specific style or aesthetic because it limits the potential they can see in pieces.

People will ignore really good clothes while thrifting and stuff just because they don't perceive it as something that fits into their very specific definition of a style, but that leads to their look becoming overly-curated and inauthentic because they buy clothes solely to fit that look and nothing else.

This kind of thing started happening around 2019-2020 when everybody was getting into naming aesthetics and "-core" and all these labels ended up developing one quintessential look that you have to have to fit into that group and it makes a lot of people's fashion within a subculture look pretty samey (think like modern tiktok trad goth style)
Realest take ever. I also struggle Abit because of the "need" to chase one specific style, but really what I like the most is picking outfits depending on my mood no matter the style, so I'm trying to stop trying to "find a style"
