Dolly in Quenq Fashion

Hello! I have a question for you all.

When is the best time to shop for formal/prom dresses? As in, how soon in advance should I shop? I want to avoid last-minute buys, but I don't want to buy something too soon and then get upset because I saw something else. I know that's hard to predict, but I assume there is an ideal time frame.

Specifically, I'm looking for vintage (1950s) dress. If the op shop/thrifting gods bless me, I might find something there. If not, I'm happy to scour second-hand listing and even online stores. If you have advice relating to any of those subjects, I would really appreciate you sharing it!

I don't go shopping for fancy clothes, like, ever. Thank you for any help! Hope you all have wonderful weeks.

Are you set on having an authentic 50s dress or would you settle for a more recent dress in that style? The brand Collectif has a lot of dresses that could work depending how conservatively you want to dress.

I definitely recommend looking online for second hand ones from similar brands because some of the ones I'm seeing are such bargains, lots under £30!
Also if you end up buying things second hand online, I'd recommend maybe a month or a few weeks in advance so there's time for shipping and returns if necessary
