Inspired by a Fujimoto film adaptation, Look Back, one of the big questions asked is: Why do you draw?

(Highly recommend watching if ur an artist!)

As for my answer.. I guess it’s just in my nature to create.. like breathing. Finishing a piece I’m proud of makes me feel so fulfilled and content. It makes me happy! Art is something I just want to get better and better at - and it comes in so many different forms (so there’s always something new to explore). Art is such an integral part of me, and I love it wholeheartedly.

I think I remember a film director saying something like "what I hate more than making a movie, is not making one."

It's kinda similar for me. I always think I'm not good enough, but at the end of the day, not drawing feels like I'm missing something.

You're right when you say it does feel fulfilling ! No matter the end result, you created something and that is no small feat. Art is the one thing that makes us who we are, after all :3
When i was a kid i really liked drawing my favorite characters and my ocs as a way to express myself and to show what i really liked
The thing is, i was very bad at it and it's normal because i was a kid -i'm talking 10 to 12 yo here- but i couldn't accept it i wanted to be able to draw perfectly but i didn't want to practice because i believed i wasn't like the other kids and i felt shameful watching tutorials, so i never did instead i kept getting sad by comparing my art to other people
Years later, i realised that nothing can be done by feeling sorry for myself, i spent years and years crying and doing nothing while other people would practice so i finally picked up the pen
It's been three years now since i took art seriously and while i still think i'm a beginner in art i don't want to stop, i want to show to my childhood self that watching tutorials is not a bad thing at all, i'm unique in my own way and that's cool
Comparing yourself to others is a staple of the artist journey it seems 😭 it’s awesome that you’ve picked it back up!
