Answering for Barley, the protagonist of Rivers of Thyme.

Growing up, she showered twice a day. Her showers were always short to conserve the homestead's water. She lived with four other people, one of whom was her sister, who loved to shower for upwards of half an hour.

After she inherited the homestead, she still showered twice a day. Nobody else was around to leech the supply, so she started showering for maybe five minutes, or ten if she really wanted to push it. She also got to relax in a bath for the first time ever. It was greatly enjoyed, but she didn't like to use all the water or to treat herself.

When Thyme moved in, it was the same as above, but she stopped showering for ten minutes entirely. There was still plenty of water to go around compared to her childhood, but she wanted Thyme to get the majority. They also inherited their mother's habit of bathing for ages.

There came a period of time towards the end during which Thyme's showers were capped at ten minutes. They did not approve of this in the slightest. Sucks for them because Barley did not budge. I'll leave that vague for now (⁠｡⁠•̀⁠ᴗ⁠-⁠)⁠✧

After Thyme went missing, things quickly spiraled. Her twice-a-day showers dropped to once a day, then every two days, and so on. Four years later, she's honestly really unclean. Showers two to three times a week at most. Combined with running the homestead herself, and later going hunting in the woods, she gets really grotty. Her hair is neglected even more.

Frankly, she couldn't care less about how grotty she feels. She's started to clean herself only when absolutely necessary. This usually means just washing her hands before cooking. Even when she feels grotty, she sometimes neglects showering.
