Something I struggle to come to terms with is that I don’t like everyone, and not everyone likes me.

I have some friends that I’m not that close with, but they still ask to hang out once in a blue moon. Tbh, I don’t really want to hang out with them, but don’t know how to really tell them without hurting their feelings. I feel guilty for not wanting to be friends with them, but I suppose it can’t be helped. Part of why is because we have very different interests and lives, plus they don’t particularly try to keep in touch. In truth, I don’t know if we’ll even hang out again, cuz they’re pretty busy and last time someone tried to organize smth, schedules did not align (which I was acc relieved for 😭). Right now, I’m just not saying anything in the group chats, not that they’re very active anyway. It’s been hard for me to accept that I just don’t click with them, I feel like I try hard to click with anyone who’s nice to me/hangs out with me because I’m desperate for human connection but I just need to make friends that I don’t feel confused about (not to say I don’t, I’m very thankful I do).

As for people not liking me, I feel hypocritical because I’m really bad at handling rejection. This one friend I was relatively close to suddenly told me they didn’t want to be friends and it really upset me. Obviously, my relationship with diff friends are different, but aren’t I the same? I was friends with some people and then I slowly realized I didn’t want to be friends with them anymore. So why am I so bitter about it?

This is just a ramble but feel free to comment, wld love to hear ur input

This kinda reminds me of that one Ragatha line where shes telling Jax “I hate you, but I don’t want you to hate me.”
I think having an actual 1 on 1 conversation with your friend about what you want out of your friendship would be really helpful. If you don't speak up about your needs, it will grow resentment when your needs are unmet. I struggle with something similar. It can be a very hard thing to do. Rejection can be scary but I don't think it can be worse than slowly letting your relationships fade away and choosing to do nothing about it.
Tbh, my friendship with the people I don’t click with is already fading on its own. (Part of why I don’t click with them, I seek intimate friendships) … so I’m just going to let it happen. But I’ve been thinking abt it recently and wanted to reflect.
I hope you will find what you need and ease your mind <3
Ty for ur kind words <33
