i feel like i should mention ive only played chill games before this o>o of course i played fps when i was younger, but ive grown out of it . . .

I'm assuming that's probably a Licker from your description! They can't see, but have good hearing, so if you know where a Licker is and you're trying to just get past it, then I'd recommend walking slowly and go as far away from them as possible. When I played the RE2 remake and the Lickers were on the ceiling of a hall, I'd have Leon walk slowly down the hall and as far away from them as possible and then hopefully the Licker(s) won't notice him, but if the Licker(s) do, then I've just ran into the nearest room since they can't go through doors. To kill them, like most enemies, headshots works well if you can do it!
