youre making me more interested lol. how long does it take for the plot to pick up and have solid progress? im still turned off by what ive heard about the over all progression and filler, but i dont like to have negative opinions on something i havent given a try (unless its factually harmful) so im still open to one piece

Well, while the pacing is bad, I loved the story from the beginning for it's goofiness. The first time when I cried watching one piece was on the first few episodes due to a random dog's backstory. If you are asking me about some kind of cool and epic moments then one of them is in arlong park arc (31-45). The backstories are well written. I miss the old art style cuz the new one doesn't do justice for female characters. It's like they have less and less clothes and their anatomy is awful. Though the I absolutely love the new animation style. The plot consists of some points of progress I guess. Like in the beginning we find out about some kind of treasure on the grand line. After that MC finds new members for the crew and a ship. After that they finally reach grand line. I'd call that the beginning of the actuall adventure.
About fillers... You can skip them for sure if you don't like them. They are not bad, but most of them aren't good
Ps. I watched one piece on x2 due to the horrible pacing :P

Would you believe me if i told you in March of 2020 i got caught up to onepiece in a month 😭 I’m pretty sure it was around the 960 episode mark i believe but after i caught up and finished wano I haven’t event started egg head because I love onepiece more when I can binge it

I would actually. It's almost the same for me. Though it took me 1,5 month to watch 1100+ episodes
And I feel you. I dropped it for now because I don't wanna watch 2 episodes per month
