Is it just me or it all feels kinda... fake lately? Like. How can you guys be real. Take me serious. I love you guys but... People are not that kind without a motive. People are not JUST like that. It all feels fake. I don't really know anymore, all those posts, conversations, people. Like there's a factory or algorithm that is making people just like you, because it's not real for people to just say stuff and other people to like it whatever it is. I could possibly post something nonsensical and someone would like it. What the hell is going on because I don't have a clue. When I go outside, to work or just out I only see people constantly angry, or sad, or laughing at someone's else's misery. Even at night, when going to sleep, someone always yells in anger or you can hear a fight. On other platforms I could see just scum of the earth clearly grooming that guy in public twit or in some public community discords. Going in comments on a random yt video it's just bots or children and on ig? Don't even ask. Like, it's really interesting this place is kinda cut off from reality I live in, like talking to people in other universe where everyone loves everyone and you don't need to be ashamed at all times to the point you just wish world would end. I don't get it, how could you be so whimsy as kind when world is literally on verge of ending and we all could die literally tomorrow by a nuke, political extremist, fucked up climate change that made your country literal hell or just full on war

Because some of us think there are happier days along. Miracles can happen even in the darkest moments. I wouldnt know how and really all we have is each other.
Nothing matters, and by the metric that there is no value to anything, all those things hold the exact same value, which is zero. So ergo, nothing matters, and everything matters (the exact same amount.) I am kind because it costs the same in my brain as being mean, which is that I don't think about it cause it's either this or be dead.
Sure, we could all kick the bucket, but that doesn't mean we should just lay down and die. Might as well give it our best shot, even if that only postpones death. I agree with Seafood Soda that nothing matters. I don't believe there is any grand, assigned meaning to life at all. Again, though, that isn't inherently a bad thing. We can make whatever we want of life because there isn't some defined parameter for what we were "made to do."

Also, you say that people are inherently selfish, but we're also social creatures. Humans wouldn't exist if we didn't evolve to help each other. Yeah, you could argue that everything is just a result of evolutionary survival tactics, but, like, it still counts. Most people are kind because it's in our very bones.

Call it naive, but hope is one of the best motivators. If you can't find hope for everyone, find hope for your neighbours, family, or friends. Hell, make up a random person in your head and decide to live for their sake. The world is so full, they probably exist in a lot of different, real people. Be kind to everyone because it'd be a damn shame to die in anger.
Death may be inevitable, but life feels better and more fulfilled if we're not afraid to face it. Sure, there are a lot of bad shit, but we're all here just living our lives. Do not let anyone influence you, be yourself, nobody is stopping you. If death was never a concept, then what's the point of completing your life?
I can't speak for everyone else but personally I think being "whimsical and kind" despite all the fucked up shit in this world is a conscious decision I choose to make every single day. If I can't uplift myself, I might as well try to for the people around me. I've lived through poverty and all forms of abuse. I'd be lying if I said I'm never angry at the world because the truth is I always am since forever. I'm always angry about the injustices in this world but it's important for me to discern that my anger and distrust should always be reserved for those in power, not the average person from the working class.
Personally, I used to be a very spiteful person, I was surrounded by negativity for a large portion of my life. I know that feeling of hatred and hopelessness. But I am blessed to have experienced kindness. People who supported and uplifted me, I love them all dearly. Their kindness has shaped me into the person I am today. I've learned to appreciate the little things in life through them and that to change the world i must first change myself. corny? yes, but true.

Hatred is such a strong emotion, but kindness can move mountains. The kind actions from a passing stranger sticks to me, even the small actions. People who i may never see again, i remember from their kindness. I want to be like them. Even if it's only small, I want to be kind to people and show them the same love that I have received from others. I still fall back to my old ways but I know i still have those people to go to as they have me.

I genuinely hope that you have or can find people in your life to both show and receive kindness :)
I hope this doesn't sound cliche but I'm a man faith and I believe that hope is something to be treasured, kept and shared with others Life is not just about me myself and I and there IS meaning to life ,being a kind person DOES matter and what you do DOES make a difference .if the rest of the world decides to be at war with each other we all hold and make a conscious choice to feed into that or walk a different path . nihilism leads nowhere but to despair. I refuse to believe that absolutely everyone holds ulterior motives and is out to get you.the world is already enveloped in darkness and evil as is ,so I wouldn't blame anyone for being sour or down but the fact that people push on despite that is reason enough for me to appreciate anyone who makes the effort to show kindness even if they don't feel like it.
I've been blessed enough to have people shine light into my life without asking anything in return.and I pray the same love finds you and anyone else who reads this.
I feel like that's a really negative mindset that you have there TT just because everything around us is shit doesn't mean all of us are shitty. The fact that a lot of people share negativity doesn't mean that spreading positivity is a crime! Personally, being kind just makes me feel happy myself. I really like thinking about the fact that I might make the other person a bit happier so that's enough motivation for me. After all, shared joy is the best, isn't it? And I feel like it's our responsibility to have a kind community here since we were given a chance to escape to a platform that doesn't contain the negativity that we're used to seeing everywhere. And the world isn't ending! Just think about everything that happened to the humanity in the past: world wars, the plague, starvations, collapsing societies... But humanity still lives. So, we're not doomed, not at all. I really hope you'll be able to leave negativity behind add also embrace whimsy!! Since you're living then make sure to enjoy your life 🫢🫢🫢
I think people WANT to be happy. I also think that sites like this that are smaller and slightly more niche attract people who are on the site because they want genuine connection, as opposed to 'everyone else has it and I feel like I'm getting left behind', which is how I see a lot of other social media sites at the moment. Shallow and vain people don't particularly care for said genuine connection, so don't normally use sites like these Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
Either way, I'd like to think that most people ARE genuinely kind like the lovelies here on kwenk, but other sites know that kindness doesn't sell NEARLY as well as fear mongering. (if that makes sense :P)
i feel u. tho i think the answer to why everyone here is kind is because the evil people arent interested in little happy communities like these, if that makes sense, especially the way this site in particular is built. With things like ig, where the comments are absolutely foul, yk, it's a scrolling social media specifically made for giving you neverending dopamine, and when you comment something evil, it gives you a rush of adrenaline cause you know its wrong. but with low-attention sites like these, its not the same, yk?
everyone else has wonderful points abt how even in the face of futility there is joy to be found and I completely agree with that! but, to give a specific answer, as to why ppl are so positive here specifically is because we've been feeling like you - other parts of the internet are toxic and miserable, so when we found somewhere new that could be different, we gave it a shot - or at least i did (α΅•β€”α΄—β€”). and i do feel its worked well - i rlly like it here! as for how I'm able to be so positive, you're right, the world is miserable and im not positive and upbeat all the time, and we could die any minute - but we could always die any minute. And id rather die happy, you know? And besides, being miserable is exhausting. Being anxious is exhausting. I'd rather put that energy into, if i can, doing something about the source of the issue, and if i can't, well, i dont like feeling anxious or miserable or angry, so i usually find some way to not feel like that. I recognise this can border on running from your feelings, so im trying to find a balance, but, yeah. Thats my ulterior motive. I prefer being positive. I prefer to find the joy in things and the beauty in life because it makes me feel good. And i don't think there's anything wrong with that, it doesnt hurt anyone, and often it makes others feel good too. We only have so much time, we could lose everything at any time, so might as well make it count!
Well, we're all sick of the algorithms, we're all sick of the world. This is just a place where that ... doesn't exist. We're here, right now. We're not together in a physical sense, but we're sharing the same space online. There is generally not much moderation here, you could be hateful if you wanted to ... but nobody is. That's beautiful
