It's not quite short films, but I really liked DOOMSWEEPERS and Monkey Wrench. Just some good animated watching imo!

high-quality moron
Opal by jack stauber is really good, but be warned that it is horror!

also these are series and not short films, but i also really recommend Deep Space Discounts (light-hearted* sci-fi) and Bigtop Burger (no clue how to summarize just trust me)

I watched magical meow meow and ersatz. I especially liked ersatz, it had alot of lore that the story rested on, it was so well crafted.

I would also like to bestow a few shortfilm recomendationson (YT):

Violet and Marlowe Rob a Bank ("Feel it All Again")
About the extremes of capitalism

Jack Stauber’s OPAL
quite disturbing, about child neglect

Tellervo - Animated Short Film 2023 - ArtCenter
About a possible symbiose with nature instead of a parasitic relationchip

Wade | Indian Animated Short Film about Climate Change
Everything has two points of wiew, in this case it's three

ERSATZ MENTIONED!!!!!! also everyone in the comments has recommendations I am also seconding (Bigtop Burger is sooooo funny. everything by Worthikids is gold and there are so many good quotes. Cesare my beloved)

I would recommend GNOME SHOW by Cas van de Pol, really funny fantasy comedy by the guy who made the Ultimate Recap animations, suprisingly wholesome in its shenanigans too
THE LOVERS by Studio Heartbreak, beautiful visuals + my friend is a huge fan
Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want to be a Magical Girl, which I've only watched the animated pilot but they have a few animatic versions of their episodes!
Dream Along With Me, a comedy horror puppet cartoon steeped in 80s nostalgia, of which their teaser just came out! I've recently got into this and it's so pretty
