I think our consciousness gets dissolved in the world around us and we become one with it. We live on in people's memories, through consequences of our actions and we directly influence the future because of it. Then one day, if circumstances are right we are born again, because what made us has just become relevant again, due to cyclic nature of the world. I don't really know if it makes any sense, but it feels really natural for me.
I just hope it's comfortable. I've gotten diagnosed with anxiety recently, and I really hope that the afterlife is something that at the very least takes away those worries. Even if it's a blank void of just me and my thoughts for the rest of time.
I don't know if I believe in a heaven or any great beyond personally, but I do think the people that believe in those kinds of things will get to see some sort of comforting end in what they believe to be an afterlife.
Last thought. Maybe we're all wrong about what death is. Maybe it's a computer, a keyboard, and a blog forever. Everyone shares everything forever, and we're all in each others' groups and friends lists.
I believe in a soul. I wouldn't really call myself spiritual, though. I don't believe in horoscopes, tarot cards, palm readings, or karma. I'm not sure if I even actually believe in luck. Still, I can't fathom only being chemicals and organs working together. Yeah, I'm that, but how do chemicals form a consciousness?
Believing in a soul makes it easier to believe in an afterlife. I'm definitely not religious. I reject the idea of Heaven and Hell, or really any kind of afterlife based on morality. I guess I am still influenced by my fear of death. The eternal void is horrifying.
I don't really care either way whether a god is real, but if it is real, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of death being a kind of ascension. Again, I'm not deadset on this. It's really just what I would prefer to happen, lol. Maybe we can all play The Sims or something LMFAO (/joking).
I hope I can meet again with my loved ones. It would be nice to catch up and make ammends.
I would love to believe that there is some sort of afterlife, purely because I mentally can not handle that some people could get away with their actions just like that. Now, which afterlife? The abrahamic religions convey the most "default" version of heaven/hell we know in the global north. However, I think that the buddhist one is the most interesting.
