Hello sweethearts! Id like to ask something that I don't think I should be asking here but whatever. I often feel disconnected with my body, as if im just watching my life trough VR, the sounds around me feel distand and can't focus on what someone is saying or where I am. I also have a fear of losing control of myself. It mostly happens when I'm surrounded by a lot of people and noise. Or when I'm quiet for too long. I didn't know it was something real and I thought I was just making it up until I saw a yt short abt it and then I started searching and I came to a name derealization and depersonification. Took an online test and watched some vids abt it and always could relate to the stuff they were saying. BUT I'm scared to tell my mom. She will ask where I got the term from and when I say the internet it's not gonna end well. Also I dont want to go to my old therapist. (I kinda left her on a cliffhanger on our last session lol) But I also dont want to go to a new one cuz I'd have to explain everything again.. Idk what to do soo if someone has any advice I'd mean the world to me ᐢᴗ͈ ᴗ͈ᐢꕀ♡

from experience, don't self-diagnose with anything. It could be derealization, but it could also be overwhelm paired with dissociation as a defense mechanism
There are about a million things that could cause things which you describe, so honestly talking with a professional is your best bet. I don't think your old therapist would mind if you showed up again, it's their job to listen afterall, isn't it?
Yeah I don't want to diagnose myself off internet and I also feel kinda ashamed that I got these terms this way.. And I think that if I went to the same therapist she would want to continue where we ended but a want to start again on a blank page. Maybe a new therapist? Idk.
hey!
i have suffered from dpdr for over 10 years and been going in and out of episodes. its best if you reach out to your therapist, but personally id advise finding an emdr therapist because that really is the only thing that truly helped me be tethered to my body and be present.
Thank you ₍ᐢ..ᐢ₎♡ . I would ask my mom to go to a new therapist but I think she might not fully believe me and say that it's nothing and I should get more sleep.
