Despite the misconception of possums carrying diseases like rabies, their cooler blood temperature of around 94°F (34.4° C) does not permit them from even getting it in the first place! The cases for rabies for animals like raccoons or wild dogs are much higher than possums.

Cats only meow to people:3

Cookie cutter sharks, like other sharks, lose and replace their teeth easily, only they don't lose a few teeth at a time, rather they just lose their lower teeth as an entire plate, and often swallow that plate whole when eating

WILLDDD KRAATTTSTSTTSTS!!!!

oml i love wild kratts! ummm... platypuses are one of five known mammal species to lay eggs (the other are echidna). it is also one of the few mammal species with venom! male platypuses have a spur with venom on their hind legs that use to compete with other males for breeding

i know a couple but the only one i'm remembering rn is that male snakes have two schlongs, and the only reason why i remember it is bc i kept mocking Crowley from "Good Omens" for nearly a year bc there's a 50/50 chance he has two schlongs 😭😭😭😭😭

OH OH OH, idk how common this one is, but cats can also purr when they're under big amount of stress to self-soothe/regulate without getting aggressive!

The eastern emerald elysia is a sea slug that can BASICALLY PHOTOSYNTHESIZE?? It steals the choloroplasts from the algae it eats and incorporates it into its own cells!

Not anything specific, but some animals' (like wombats) pouches face backwards so dirt doesn't get into them while they burrow.

Also, the common brushtail possum is a skittish, Australian animal with big eyes and much softer looking fur than the oppossum, which is the shaggy, toothy animal from North America. There are multiple possums native to Australasia! Searching online for "possum" shows me a movie. Searching "possum animal" shows me the oppossum. Very annoying!
