I chose urban planning bc I've always been super into geography and cities since I was young. Right now, I specifically want to focus on increasing the amount of accessible, efficient, and more environmentally friendly public transportation. It's really important to me that you don't need to have a car to get around a city safely. I LOVE trains, metros, light rails, and other stuff like that. I think its really sad that in the US where I live we had a formerly extensive railroad network that eventually got squashed by car-centric design (which came with a bunch of other issues like the demolition of minority neighborhoods, increased pollution, decreased affordability and accessibility to travel, etc...). I don't have that much experience with my major or minor yet so my goals might change, but that's where I'm at now!! :]
It took me a while to understand that that's what I wanted to do since i always thought it was just going to be a hobby but it's been many years since i really like learning software and hardware, honestly i like anything about technology i think it's very cool
That's so freaking awesome. Tech and media kinda run the world these days, so I have so much respect for ppl in our field trying to make interactive content for the future<33
Have you already made any? Like on itch or something?
for the longest time i planned to go to art school because I felt like that was the only thing I was kinda good at... but then i suddenly had the revelation that being a camera operator was something i wanted to do, and here we are. It's my first year tho so we'll see how it goes!! (the film bros are gonna rip me apart)
I've actually known what I wanted to be since I was a kid, and that was to be a storyteller. It didn't matter to me what the method was, either art, writing, movies, games, etc, it has always been a dream of mine to be able to create stories that others may enjoy. Only, I didn't want to go to art school. Drawing is already my main hobby and I didn't want it to sour for me due to assignments that may not match my own inspirations. I didn't want to do writing either, because while I do write in my free time I also have a lot more fun working with visuals and would prefer for writing to accompany it. So, I was a little stuck about what major to go into because of how vast and unspecific my goal was. But, funny enough, I ended up having free elective spots in high school because again, I hated taking physical art classes, so I joined a media production class to see how it was. Ended up having tons of fun because it's so much more collaborative and I get to work with so many people. And it was also the perfect way to balance storytelling, art, and writing in a class while keeping it fun for me amidst the assignments. Even just doing the camera made me happy, so that's how I came to a decision :3

I originally majored Cybersecurity since I had multiple certificates from the Girls Who Code program. But for a multitude of reasons I decided to do something entirely different. Hopefully it goes well!
I do hope one day I'll be able to go back to school and get a degree in cybersecurity as well as game design since that is what I love coming up with ideas for games.
