I wanted to know if anyone has any general fashion tips. I am so curious how fashionable ppl get their unique clothing - I know there’s thrifting, DIY sewing, niche brands. Ig I’m asking where do u get your clothes?

I’m still discovering my style, but wanted to hear abt others experiences
Well for me i dress in a very typical "alt" style and i'd say don't overlook what seems like "trash"... i've made a bracelet out of soda an tabs and string for example LOL
I've been buying all my clothes and jewellery second hand for a while now. Between Vinted, eBay, Depop, Postmark, and other sites like that you can find clothes in almost any style for crazy cheap.

Some of my other posts in this group are examples of things I found on Vinted, most of them would have been £20 or less even for vintage stuff, once you curate your algorithm it recommends you some really great stuff!
I usually get my clothing from local thrift stores and diying them into something I would like to wear. Also making friends with the elderly is VERY valuable! I got a lot of clothes from this old lady I met a while back and they have become some of my most worn items. Accessories can be made from whatever you have lying around, it’s a nice creative challenge.
Personally, a lot of the stuff I get is

A) Thrifted. Specifically, I prefer smaller businesses/alternative oriented stores, because they're more likely to keep the "odd" stuff that a larger thrift store may throw away, since they when to appeal to a general audience and get way more donations than they can sell. (This is definitely style dependent, I lean more in an alternative direction) It's definitely more difficult to find these stores, but they're super fun what you do find them, and often have little communities that they try to build if they lean towards the alternative scene.

B) I often make/upcycle things myself through hand/machine sewing, embroidery, painting with fabric and bleach paint, etc. I use both bought fabrics, and fabric from old clothing. I also make jewelry, though certain styles are definitely more difficult to re-create at home.

C) Buying merch. Occasionally I'll grab merchandise/fabric art and jewelry made by small artists or organizations (Also Hank Green has made his way into my wardrobe?)

I'm definitely restating a lot of what other people are saying in here, but I live to yap sooo... :)
i get all of my clothes through thrifting! though rather than where you get clothes, i feel like the best ways to improve your personal style is knowing what you want to dress like ex: color palettes, knowing if/how to layer, having a 'statement' clothing item. like for example i tend to style my outfits based on whichever bag i wear that day since it tends to be my favorite part of the outfit
I pretty much live at my local thrift stores. Texas Thrift, Goodwill, Uptown Cheapskate, Thrift at the Warehouse, and just pop up markets!

It's taken me a really long time to develop a distinct style and I think it's always evolving for me anyways. Nowadays every time I shop I try to think about how it will look on me when I'm older or when I get my job. I think " is this going to look cool and awesome when I walk into my studio?" And go from there. Putting together Pinterest board or just wish lists and honestly just grabbing things that catch your eye. And you don't have to have one style in the first place, clothing should be about what you love and how you want to express yourself. And I think everybody has a lot of different expressions to show the world. So don't limit yourself with trying to find a style and just buy clothes that you like :3
