try box breathing!! it sounds stupid but breathing is supposed to calm ur brain and ur body. 4 sec in, 4 sec hold, 4 sec out, 4 sec hold. you can shorten the time if needed :>
I'm sorry to hear that! and i get you i have problems sleeping too, idk if you get overstimulated quickly but an option is asmr (soft one), another option is looking for an audiobook and play it on the background...what elseee...you can put soft music like AURORA, Laufey, cavetown, liana flores, etc. and play em on the backgound too, another idea is to cover yourself with large blankets that add weight to you, idk!! i have a lot of tipsbut idk what have you tried :3
Get you some magnesium. If you JUST take melatonin (the sleepy), it needs something to help it STICK. Also, lay down about 30 before you sleep. It's also SUPERRR normal to wake up in the middle of the night! So don't panic if you do!!
If you do wake up, just roll back over.
sidenote: when your told to count sheep, it doesn't mean to ACTUALLY do sleep, it means to think of something comforting. For me? I imagine one of my OC's being gently tucked into bed by one of their loved ones, and being told goodnight. One of my friends thinks about embroidery, another thinks about doing origami.
what i usually try to do is drink chamomile tea or i play a video for background noise (i always felt comfort when i would watch one youtuber) i dunno if it only works for me but hope you can get the help you want and wish you the best on your sleeping journey:D
Genuinely, using your phone before bed will fuck you up. I say this as someone who scrolls in bed. Also, opening your curtains/being in natural light during the day helps your body to recognise darkness/nighttime as time to sleep.
2 tips tip 1: dont think of anything except for breathing and start manually breathing, similarly if u lie on ur side u can sometimes hear your heart beat, in that case use it as a sort of metronome, and concentrate solely on the pulsating of ur heart. tip 2: create some sort of fake scenario in ur head and finish it off with u going to sleep in some way. for example pretend you're picking up your friend to go somewhere but when u arrive at their house they tell u they gotta finish a business call so u tell them you're gonna take a nap and to wake u up when their done so you two can go. obviously flesh out the story a little more but that usually works for me
tip 3: i forgot to include this since it only works for naps for me but maybe it'll help you. i listen to kpop and whatnot so one thing ill do is play an idols live stream while im trying to sleep (make sure it's a calm one) similarly to tip 1 since i dont understand korean my brain isnt too engaged but having this noise in the background prevents my brain from getting side tracked
Omg same my sleep schedule got so bad recently... TT def gonna try some of the tips here cuz I only tried getting up mega early and hoping I'd get tired faster lol
I've never done all of these at once, but having headphones on either playing white noise, or wearing headphones/earmuffs playing nothing with white noise/brown noise on some speakers, a fan on while being under heavy blankets (temperature dependent, obviously), drinking either some kind of sleep help tisane, a large glass of water, or milk with; honey, sugar, and vanilla extract,
melatonin(I don't know if this actually works, but the placebo is nice), and counting down from 100 in sync with my heartbeats.
That list had a lot of sub-lists, but I hope those kinda make sense?
