What’s your philosophy/mantra?
I’m pretty nihilistic, meaning I don’t think life has inherent meaning, but I feel like people usually associate nihilism with a negative connotation. I feel like Everything Everywhere All At Once is a good example of nihilism with a positive spin. Although I don’t believe life has meaning, I believe you can make your own meaning. Some people find the thought morbid, but I find it freeing. Like noting matters.. so I can do whatever I want.

It has felt freeing at times seeing it that way, that there's no strict inherent meaning that you have to find and follow. But it has also felt pressuring at others when I lose interest in everything and don't really know how nor want to create any meaning for my life.
When I start to feel that way I just try not to think about it too much and distract myself with the small things that I still enjoy, which has made me realize that I can just keep on living for that solely, just enjoying the everyday mundanities of life, continuing to take in its art and beauty.
Tldr; I live for my favorite fictional medias and try not to take things too seriously (the 2nd part is the hardest lol) (^ω^)
yes its true that on the grand cosmic scale of things, we're all tiny specs floating in an endless sea of other specs. everything dies, and eventually all energy will be unusable in the inevitable heat-death of the universe... but doesn't that make your meaningless little speck beautiful in its own right?
"what's the meaning of life" is a redundant question because life in itself IS meaning. there's no "purpose" to your existence because the simple act of existing and experiencing all of these things in the moment IS your purpose.
and in a way, doesn't that make death and entropy special as well? because what's special about something that never ends?
of course everything dies in the end, no matter how "permanent" it seems, because the playing field is constantly changing around us. life is change. and if we knew for sure what happened after death it sucks all of the fun out of it.
love, death, emotion, tragedy, horror, laughter, whatever it is, it all matters because YOU are experiencing it. if everything ceases to exist eventually, that what's the point other than fully and irrevocably experiencing what you have in this moment?
so honestly? don't worry about it.
the only thing dwelling on nihilistic existential dread does, is distract you from everything else that's happening NOW.
just live, because everything about living has purpose, living IS the purpose.
my personal take on it, safe journeys everyone. <3
i've always been dreading the year 12 mandatory philosophy class, all the debate around the sense of the life; but i feel like this class did in the end of the day bring me to realise how i feel about it
at some point we had to study some extracts of existentialism is a humanism by jp sartre and the concept of existentialism resonated so deeply with me; it had already been a while back then since i was having mixed feelings about how i see life, what bugged me specifically is that i felt kind of like i was losing my religion
i guess it resonated so deeply especially because existentialism its essence is meant to be liberating; when you realise that humans are not predefined by anything at all, not their nature, not any divine being ( because divine beings were created by humans in fiction ), not destiny, you realise you are free to find what makes the most sense in your life, even if you don't truly define the sense of life for yourself, you just feel what's right and go on with it
life is too short to spend it believing your fate is predetermined and to chase ideals that have been defined as acceptable by people before you; i believe everyone should be free to give sense to their life in their own way by living the way they want to and not let anything define them in advance!
"There's a solution to deal with everything, except death."
I tend to have a lot of anxiety with things, so when everything is going wrong i start to lightly panic and she told this to me in one of these episodes.
So whenever i feel like everything is going wrong and i'm about to snap i repeat this as many time as i need while fixing the thing and doing the thing properly and well... Only to discover i went beyond the necessary and see people with things poorly done get the same amount of points as me, and even more praise because they "struggled" and couldn't finish it properly...
