I'm gonna put a Trigger Warning for SA on this one for obvious reasons. I'll probably delete this post down the line, but whatever. I need to get this off my chest.
I was assaulted by my mom's bf about a month or two ago. Idk, I'm not really keeping count. He doesn't live with us to preface that. I told my mom the next day and she was devestated. She broke down crying, and told me word for word "I thought he loved me." We consoled each other and I really thought that would be the end of it. I never went to the police because there would have never been enough evidence.
When she confronts him, according to her, he denied it and said nothing happened. My mom is rightfully angry. The day after that? She tells me she talked to him and tells me "He knows what he did was wrong and wants to apologize to you." Apologize? She repeatedly makes excuses for him. "He just wanted to show you that you were pretty. He knows what he did was wrong." I yelled at her multiple times about how much this affected me, but I don't think it ever got through to her. She just tells me she's "in love". Ever since then, she's been constantly asking me when I'll forgive him, despite repeatedly telling her that I never will. I feel like I'm being gaslit into thinking what happened to me wasn't that bad. I've even almost convinced myself to forgive him just so everything can go back to normal, but I don't think I can ever bring myself to do so.
