I feel like The Dismemberment Song by Blue Kid goes realllyyy hard in a good karaoke session, but it's VERY group and event specific for hopefully obvious reasons. Also not crazy well known (I think?) which also severely limits the karaoke potential.
Classic popular songs are typically good for group karaoke (very big social bonding activity means songs most people will know)... Don't Stop Believing by Journey, Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, Piano Man by Billy Joel, Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard, and others. If you want songs that other people will sing along to, classic bar songs are the way to go, especially because they are often easy to sing/shout the words to, and many tend to know the lyrics. But, that also entirely depends on the audience and why you might be singing to begin with.
The few times we have done karaoke, definitely bellowed the lyrics to just about any Fall Out Boy songs... Cake by the Ocean by DNCE was another big song around that time that everyone would know the lyrics to. Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler is (ironically) a silly one that people love to sing as well. Same with American Pie by Don McLean.
Now, though, were we to do karaoke... Stray Dog by Amgio the Devil, just about any Casey Lee Williams songs (Without You for sure), Take Me to War by The Crane Wives, and When Am I Gonna Lose you by Local Natives would (probably) be our go-tos.
However, it all comes down to your preference and songs you are familiar with; karaoke is only really fun on Rock Band or when you know (almost) all the lyrics and get to have fun shouting them out.
ouhh that's actually a great question.. i think anything by mcr, ouhh bulls in the bronxs (ptv), my all (mariah carey), hmm.. and sugar we're goin down (fall out boy) ^^ def fav go tos, but if im js joking around then probably the sophia the first opening HAHA
