Watched "But I'm a cheerleader" with my partner a few weeks ago and can't get it out of my head, its really funny and has a really sweet ending)))) In a world trying to remove queerness its a good reminder that queer joy still exists and (even if its a bit cheesy to say) will win. So keep being yourself and have fun! :D
Clue is my favorite movie everrr!!! Its just so fun and Tim Curry is my favorite actor, his passing was so rough for me.. I truly think Clue is so underrated, dare I say it was ahead of its time?
My all time favorite movie ever in the world is Brokeback Mountain. I've written essays and done presentations on how important it is to queer history. I have been in very heated arguments with people that reduce it to "gay porn" instead of recognizing the beauty and heartbreak. I've collected I think five copies of the DVD now, I have the a copy of the short story, I have a poster of the movie on my wall currently, I got to see the movie in theaters during the 20th anniversary, I have a hand painted piece of wood meant to look like a VHS copy of the movie, I have an original movie theater advertising poster from 2005 that was never folded or creased, and last year I was both Jack and Ennis for one of the days leading up to Halloween because I was too sweaty as Jack. Last year I became "the Brokeback Mountain guy" on campus. If I ever hear anyone reduce that movie to the one on screen sex scene I will go feral I'm SICK of it. Also there's more straight sex than gay sex. On a happy note though, "The Wings" was one of the first songs I learned to pick on guitar!
Favorite movie right now though is Lars and the Real girl. It's Ryan Gosling's best movie, and I will die on that hill! It's so beautiful. While I don't believe Lars is specifically neurodivergent in anyway, he absolutely got some kind of something. He stims by blinking really hard and hitting himself and fidgeting, he has a security blanket that he carries around constantly, he doesn't pick up on social queues well, he's irritable when things don't go by his schedule, he does the same thing every single day (until Bianca), he's awkward, he's anxious, he's quiet, and he's more susceptible to delusions. He's what would be referred to as a gentle giant!! Lars is beautiful and the love that his town gives to him is so heartwarming. While it's set in the winter, it's a really really good fall movie. Oh and the sound track is gorgeous. Also learned how to play one of the songs on guitar!!!
Ne Zha 2!! even though it was released last year it still held a special place in my heart, it's animation was so pretty and i saw the behind the scenes thing and good lord it's actually a lot but it's beautiful, regardless. I also LOVE the soundtracks and character designs (especially Ao Bing, bro was my fave ever since i got into the fandom). And it's probably one of the last movies that make me sob in the theaters. tho the first movie was pretty decent, I'm lwk excited for the 3rd movie to come up soon!!
and probably the most famous old movies of Ne Zha Conquers the dragon king was my comfort movies time-to-time, idk but older animation movies have a special place in my heart.
The animation is good looking but I couldn’t get into it 😭 I watched the first movie but I j thought the writing fell kinda flat, I’m glad u enjoyed it tho!
Logan's Run is an old film that I find kinda comforting and stupid. Fun watch if you want something a little goofy.
I love horror, so I'm also always up to rewatch Rosemary's Baby, Alien, and The Witch. For science fiction I tend to go basic with Interstellar or Project Hail Mary (Admittedly other people have already recommended this, but they're right, soooooo.....)
Also Velocipastor if you want something purposefully bad. Very fun watch with friends.
My favorite... hmm, I have no single movie i like the most. I love "Falling Down" but "Apocalypse now" is just pure gold and must-watch for anyone. Unpopular opinion but I really really love Max Payne movie adaptation, have even bought 2 physical copies, one plastic box and one book edition
My favorites are coyote vs acme (see in theatres it's rlly good but it'll be out on streaming like dec 11??) and strawberry shortcake sweet dreams (watch on yt or buy it) now the sweet dreams movie is mostly because of nostalgia but I still love the movie, coyote vs acme however was a masterpiece. OH!! AND ALSO iron long AND project hail mary!!
those 3 knives out movies are PEAK i love a murder mystery and theyre so fun!! also whenever ppl ask me for fav movie, 12 angry men come to mind, so that must mean something i remember liking that a lot. an oldie but a goodie.
My favorite movie is “All about lily Chou Chou” it’s just so beautiful!!! And my other favorite movie is “peep tv show” it is also beautiful I think they go hand in hand hand both showing the darker side of life
everything everywhere all at once.. its just so good i crode the whole second half of the movie. cinematography, dialogue, plot. just everything!!! i love it so much its my top 1
I adore the HTTYD movies it just feels so nostalgic and I love the characters and world building. A recent one I loved is Project Hail Mary but literally everyone else loved it so I don't need to say more lol
THE SPIDERVERSE FILMS!!! So peak peak peak. The story, art, characters, writing, music!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND - who doesn’t love Spiderman?? And it’s a very good story about adolescence.
OMGG SPIDERVERSE!!! they're SO GOOD,, especially the music. i've watched both movies so many times! i'm really excited for beyond the spiderverse eeeee!!!
