Hii guys let’s do a check in! Some of us have already started our first semester back so I want to do kinda like a Q&A that we did at the beginning of forming this group! Ofc you don’t need to answer and you can just reply with something else you’d like to share or ask that I didn’t include down below.

Q: How has your semester gone so far? (Good/Bad/Meh/Other), feel free to go into detail if you’d like!
A: For me it’s going good school wise, only thing is annoying is my apartment had a bad leak so now I’m staying in a hotel for the meantime.
Q: is there an assignment you’re looking forwards to completing/doing or one that you aren’t looking forward to?
A: I’m excited to complete my research paper at the end of the year!
Q: Have you met any new people that you want to be or now friends with? It’s okay if not! You’ll meet someone soon.
A: I met a cool upperclassman in my history class who’s the same major as me! She’s given me a ton of tips for my psych major and I hope to be friends with her :).

Okay question for everyone- how does one make friends in college? I've already been attending college for 2 years but have yet to make any friends. I wouldn't call myself extremely introverted, but it's been a real struggle. For some context, I attend community college at the moment, which I feel makes it harder to make friends. okay quick complaint: im entering university from cegep (french canada thing) and for the most part i got a bunch of my needed credits transferred, save for cal 2 and linear algebra. to get those credits i can do a sort of challenge test to see if i know the material. slight snag tho IT HAS BEEN A YEAR SINCE CAL 2 AND HALF A YEAR SINCE LINEAR ALGEBRA, I AS A MATTER OF FACT DO NOT REMEMBER THE MATERIAL. anyways test in 3 days start praying for me

Oki first post in this group but I have a fun story I guess lol! I was in a communications class (required) and our final project could be on ANYTHING, as long as we managed to relate it back to communication. So I, the ultimate nerd, decided I was going to do my entire presentation on how the way fans communicated in fandom spaces was altered by Star Trek (specifically K/S shippers) and I ended up wearing an original series Uniform costume that I had to present it and got an A d(>_< ) all hail fanfics for academic learning or something PHHT.

HEALTH PSA:
Was just thinking (thanks to ☆☆☆ ’s post) obvi going to college is a big change and most ppl are living on their own for the first time, which is a big change. And something I think a lot of ppl can easily forget is their physical and mental health amongst all the other hubbub of going to college. So I figured I’d do a quick PSA to let everyone know of some key health stuff u’ll need to remember when going to uni, first year or above!

also, this is gonna be quite a few parts.

Warning, though, much medical talk so I will be discussing illnesses, symptoms, and injuries, though I’ll try not to be graphic - this stuff is important.

First off: admin. Dull, I know, but it is going to make your life so much easier if in an emergency you know where your records are and can easily give them to health staff. So, keep a copy of your health records and keep them up to date. Be aware of your allergies and communicate them - obvious, I assume those of you with your allergies already do this very well, but say in an emergency and you’re unconscious it might be a good idea to have an allergy card in your wallet for instance. If you’re taking medicines with serious side effects or such, this is also a good idea - eg. Often pts on anti-coagulants have some sort of card as they are more prone to bleeding out, and cannot be operated on until those anti-coagulants are neutralised.

Similarly, if you have religious beliefs that mean you do not consent to certain procedures you can do the same, or, at least this is how it works in the UK, you can set an advance directive aka an advance decision aka a living will, indicating in the event that you don’t have the capacity to make a medical decision (eg. You’re unconscious), doctor’s will follow that directive to your wishes (eg. DNRs (Do Not Rescuscitate) are a form of advance directive, but they can be used for other things eg. Blood donation). On that note, check what system your country uses for organ donation. In the UK, organ donation is on an opt out system - meaning everyone is assumed to be a donor and you have to fill out some paperwork to opt out of organ donation. Check what system your country uses and carry out the necessary actions depending on if you want to donate your organs or not.

In the UK, to access most care you need to be registered with a GP, so UK students - REGISTER ASAP! A lot of folks, put it off, I did too TOT but trust me when you get sick you will have a very tough time getting help if you’re not registered with a GP. If you end up moving, remember to update your address or change which GP you’re registered with if there’s one that’s closer to your new address. Other countries, IDK how it works, but make sure you can easily contact a doctor when you need to (eg. Have insurance, etc.)

A: I am taking a class about the psychology of teaching classes and children with disabilities! I love the behavioral aspect of this field, as well as my clinicals, where I interact with them. Everyone is so interesting and fun to talk to.

i am currently a rising junior in high school but i and taking dual credit classes with acc so i graduated with an associate(im pretty sure in general studys)
2.technically last month for summer classes but the fall when school starts
3. im excited to see my friends again and for the powerlifting season to start aging (although i haven’t worked out much this summer) i hope to to better then last season

1. i'll be starting my second year of forensic science this year!!
2. officially we're starting on the 15th of september but knowing our school it could be any time after that too
3. i'm super excited to actually do some forensic science based subjects in my second year. in first year you do a basic science course year round with a bunch of other courses (a lot of my friends from this year are doing marine biology this year), so you don't really 'specialise' until year two. and we get to shoot a gun for gsr analysis!!
