I was watching an aquarium video and the guy was like I took some plants from a nearby pond for my tank .. and I was like woah I never thought abt that. I kinda j assumed buying plants was the only option and that made me think abt how detached we are from nature.
I’ve recently found a YT aquarium channel called Tanks for Nothing and highly rec!! The vids r like mini nature documentaries and so relaxing/cinematic.
I went to the 100 Girlfriends panel at Anime NYC which had the Japanese VAs of the main cast. It was sooo cool to see them perform live, i never thought I’d see Japanese VAs irl.
I also felt rlly self conscious cuz I dragged my friend w me and they rlly didn’t like it 😭 I forget that ppl that aren’t familiar with anime think the fan service/over the topness is off putting wijdjfijg. That got me thinking abt how Dan da Dan got flamed for having rapey connotations.
Idk why anime is so weird.. I mean so is Japan. It’s a multifaceted convo, but I personally feel like some people should give more leeway to anime for being too fan servicey/weird/whatever. Obviously too much of it is bad, but I feel like Dan da Dan is so much more than that.
At the end of the day, everyone has different levels of sensitivity/tastes, but it’s so jarring to me how people seem offended/put off by things I don’t find a big deal.
Just wanted to shout out the Webtoon Vampire Family. It’s rlly funny.. and by the same creator of Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell (my favorite webtoon of all time)
I love animals sm.. I live in an area around woods and I love seeing all the birds, squirrels, and (some) bugs. Today I saw a crayfish!
It was so funny bc the crayfish was on land for some reason crossing this asphalt path (it felt like a why did the chicken cross the road reference) - and it was walking backwards bc it was trying to swim on land 😭
The little guy moonwalked all the way off a small ledge and fell on its back.. but just like Spiderman.. he got back up again. He then flipped around and started walked FORWARDS, literally clawing at the dirt and rocks to propel himself forward back home to the water.
Watching him be out of his comfort zone, fall and get back up again, and persevere despite all odds.. was lowkey inspirational.
No clue why he was on land at all in the first place, but HE MADE IT BACK TO THE WATER!! I was so happy.
Be like the crayfish guys. Never give up, esp when the going gets tough! 🦞🦞🦞
I went to a panel with Japanese VAs at Anime NYC, and couldn’t help but feel like they weren’t real people. Obviously, they are industry professionals and the featured guests so they’re somewhat performing - in the sense that everytime someone’s on a stage, they almost feel godly, on a higher level.
I felt kinda bad cuz I couldn’t help but associate them with anime (obviously they are anime voice actors) but it’s kinda with every time I hear Japanese. Like the high inflections and polite manner - it all correlates to anime to me. It kind of feels like fetishization like “Japan is so exotic!!” - but on the other hand - it’s ok to be genuinely curious and appreciate other cultures! It’s just a small internal qualm I had..
I wonder: does any one from other countries feel this way about America? Or even joke abt America like how Americans love to do British accents?
(The other way around ig wld be someone from another country that adores American media)
U guys got any bad shows/movies that are fun to watch? Theres this one anime called Neo Yokio on Netflix and it’s the dumbest thing ever. Like it’s anime art style but all the characters talk in English so it’s so jarring. Not just that, there’s even like a character who has a southern accent and it’s funny as hell 😭 pls do check it out
Here’s some off the top of my head: - Don’t spend too much time stressing over the details - Draw for yourself, not anyone else - Take breaks - Don’t compare yourself to other artists
Idk who needs to hear this but it’s ok to let yourself feel. Sometimes I get very frustrated or angry and feel bad for feeling that way.. but ur literally a human being with emotions and it’s ur birthright to feel god dammit!
Site that has an archive of traditional Chinese characters/calligraphy. U have to search the Chinese character u want (either using Chinese keyboard or copy/paste from translate).
Sometimes when I feel discouraged, I think about astronauts on the moon.
Like isn’t that crazy? Someone pointed at the circle in the sky and said, we should go there. I feel like when this was unprecedented, people would’ve laughed at you for even thinking that.
One of mankind’s greatest achievements. I can’t believe people who go to the moon and I are the same species.
Adding on, there are so many things we take for granted. AC, GPS, the internet, roads, etc. Sometimes I look at a city and I’m in awe at how grand it is. Construction workers built that from scratch, someone programmed this website, an entire team created the media you know and love.
Just.. humanity has its dark sides.. but I think we forget how amazing we are too.
I’m doing alright.. a little bored. And a little sad because a friend that I assumed would go to a convention with me went with someone else and completely forgot abt our plans -_- I’m just kinda done w them tho..
Does anyone else have the desire to be famous? I feel so narcissistic saying that but it’s something I’ve always wanted since I was a kid. I mean, most kids now do want to be YouTubers. Obviously there’s the money and the fans, I wonder if it’s bc I crave more external validation in my life. Or maybe it’s simple, it just sounds awesome.
Here’s a fun art challenge I came up with: Combine 2 animals to create a hybrid like the animals in ATLA (did u know Appa is inspired by bison + manatee). If u want an extra challenge, use a random animal generator. Here’s my polar rat!
What’s a book u think everyone shld read? I know there are the classics like 1984, Handmaids Tale, etc. but I read those all in English class and I’m not much a reader. Lmk!!
Mine is probably gossiping abt ppl, even tho I didn’t have ill intentions. Let’s just say ppl found out and it kinda exploded in my face. Let that be a lesson learned tho :”)
